A Blue Affair for Autism Speaks: over $100,000 raised for autism research and advocacy
To show their support for Autism Awareness Month and to help raise funds for Autism Speaks, Vanessa and Donald Trump, Jr. hosted A Blue Affair in partnership with the Bayrock Group and handbag line La Poshett on the evening of April 6 at Trump Soho in New York City. Joining the Trumps were event co-chairs Sandi and Chris Wright, Julius and Suzanne Schwarz, Alexandria Capra, Shawn Modell and Hope Smith, along with Autism Speaks Co-founders Bob and Suzanne Wright.
Thanks to Autism Speaks’ gracious hosts, A Blue Affair was a huge success. Over 300 guests – including Eric Trump, Real Housewives of New York star Kelly Bensimon, Miss New York USA Amber Collins, actor Michael McGlone, famed photographer Richard Phibbs, Tommy Hilfiger Model Jacquelyn Jablonski, and Miss Teen USA 2010 Kamie Crawford – enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction. Guests were also treated to a live performance by Talina, a young girl on the autism spectrum from Rockland County who is quickly becoming a singing sensation, and the debut of Vanessa Trump’s new handbag line, La Poshett, from which a percentage of proceeds from sales of her blue line will benefit Autism Speaks.
In addition to Vanessa and Donald Trump Jr. and the event co-chairs, we’d like to thank A Blue Affairs’ top sponsors — Greenberg, Trager and Herbst; Brain Balance and The Geier Group — for their support of Autism Speaks. A Blue Affair was truly a special evening for all of the attendees. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, over $100,000 was raised to go towards vital research and awareness efforts for autism. Also check out some of the great press coverage from the event, including an interview with Vanessa on MSNBC.com on why raising awareness and funds for autism is important to her, and a Fox & Friends segment on A Blue Affair with Vanessa and Donald Trump, Jr.
