Tune in to “Need to Know” on PBS
Tune in to PBS’s “Need to Know” for a segment on the challenges facing adults with autism and their families, as well as the desperate need for services that will help them live productive and fulfilling lives. The segment will feature an interview with Autism Speaks Executive Vice President for Programs and Services Peter Bell, who discusses the ongoing needs of adults with autism and the call for Congress to renew the vital Combating Autism Act (CAA). Being a parent of a young man with autism I know first hand of the challenges that my son faces every day. He is now 24 years old and is on the extreme end of the specturm, non-verbal and has an obsessive compulsive behavior to beat all.
Those in the autism community have to stay after our representitives and get the re-authorization of the combating autism act re-authorized. Pass the word around. It is do back in committee september 7th.
Thank you Peter Bell for all you do for Autism Speaks. I had the pleasure of meeting you at the Leadership conference in Philadelphia. I learned alot from that and hope to improve awareness in the community and develope a better walk for Autism Speaks.
